CALL FOR PAPERS

The School of Education (SOE), The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, Jamaica and esteemed Partners are pleased to invite papers and proposals for workshops and presentations  at the Third International Conference on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the Caribbean, which will be held during May 10 – 12, 2017 at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort in Montego Bay.  The theme of the Conference is “TVET for Sustainable Regional Development”

The objective of the conference is to create an advocacy platform for integrating sustainable principles in regional TVET policies, practices and programmes. Specifically, the conference will seek to:

    1.     Encourage a participatory approach during research presentations

2.     Foster the implementation of sustainable development lifestyle and practices

3.     Increase awareness and deepen understanding among participants of their inherent responsibilities in accessing through TVET, the benefits of energy conservation, waste management and reduction, risk management and reduction, and prudent resource management

4.     Explore TVET innovations for sustainable creative solutions in the alignment of day-to-day operations with sustainable practices

5.     Facilitate hi-tech exposition by partners in industry & commerce 

6.     Facilitate policy development which focuses on modernized TVET skills and involvement.

Paper Details

We invite papers on topics aligned to the above areas which address best practices in TVET. Authors are required to submit an abstract not exceeding 300 words on or before January 31, 2017 to tvetpapers@gmail.com for selection. Upon notification of selection, authors are required to submit their full paper which does not exceed 25 pages.  In addition to the paper, a Power Point Presentation, not exceeding 30 slides will be required.  All papers will be documented in an on-line conference proceeding. Additionally, selected papers will be peer reviewed for publication in a special Issue of a Caribbean peer reviewed Journal.  All authors will be required to surrender copyright privileges to the conference and Journal by signing a copyright waiver form.

Papers selected for publication must follow the format of the American Publication Association (APA) Manual (Latest edition).  The articles should be double-spaced, inclusive of tables, figures and reference page(s) but not exceeding twenty five (25) pages, using MS Word, 12 point "Times New Roman" font. An abstract of approximately 200 words, single spaced, is required at the beginning of the paper. Papers should not be published or submitted for publication elsewhere. 

All abstracts, papers and Power Point Presentations should be sent electronically to tvetpapers@gmail.com or any of the other email addresses listed below.  For each article submitted, the author’s name, address, e-mail address and the title of the article should appear on a separate page to ensure anonymity in the peer review process.  Authors will be notified about the status of their paper(s) as soon as the peer review process is completed.

Travelling by air to Jamaica?
